Out of my curiosity about Scrum, I emailed Ken Schwaber, one of the pioneer of Scrum, to get more info where to start with Scrum. Surprisingly, he emailed me back instantly. Here is the email:

Sarah,

My pleasure to hear from you. I spent several years in Jakarta in the late

1980's.

First, there has been quite a bit of activity in the gaming industry

regarding Scrum. I'm copying Clinton Keith from EA, who may be able to give

you pointers.

Second, you don't implement Scrum. There isn't much to implement. Instead,

you are implementing a framework that requires you to build whole pieces

(increments) of work every iteration, usually two weeks for you. These

increments are built by self-managing teams guided by a product owner

(customer) and manager who acts very differently (ScrumMaster). Within this

framework, and when using it, you will discover every dysfunction or flaw in

your company that stops you currently from shipping excellent product,

quickly. Fix them. Don't change Scrum, it is simply showing you what is

wrong. If you modify Scrum, it will simply ape the dysfunctionality.

Third, I've attached some .ppt's that we use to teach Scrum and two first

chapters from two of my books. A good book for you to get ahold of is "Agile

Project Management with Scrum" by me.

A word of advice: don't wait to get things perfect before starting. Just

start. Then you'll know what to adjust. Scrum doesn't require planning and

adjustments, it requires determination.

Ken

It definitely boosts my spirit to learn more about Scrum. I’m sharing the email with a hope it can boost your spirit in the same way as it did to mine.

Cheers…
